Plans for third spring retreat finalized!
Scrapbook Generation will hold a third spring retreat in the Lake of the Ozarks area the weekend of March 26. Here's a quick tour of the two-story Lakeview Lodge facility at Windemere Conference Center just a few miles from Camdenton in a beautiful and serene wooded lakeside setting.

Most features of our third spring retreat will be identical to the two Branson retreats.

-- cropping room size;
-- theme and decorations;
-- prizes and goodie bags;
-- schedule of events and activities;
-- meals and snack buffets;
-- huge on-site store;
-- paid classes.

There are other features that will be slightly different.
-- sleeping rooms: instead of a typical hotel room, the Windemere rooms (as shown in the photo above) all have a queen bed and two sets of bunk beds;
-- bathroom: each sleeping room's private bathroom has separate rooms for the vanity, toilet, and shower;
-- at Branson, we have some 6-foot tables, some 8-foot tables, and some round tables; at Windemere, each cropper will have a private 6-foot table;
-- because the lodging costs are slightly higher, the prices at this location will reflect that difference.

Other things I can tell you about this location...
-- Although it is a two-story building, since it is built on a slope there is a second-story ground level entrance (all our activities and sleeping rooms are on the second floor);
-- I have attended two retreats in this building and in these rooms, one a cross stitch retreat about six years ago, and one a scrapbook retreat about two years ago. I had a great time at both. The facility is spacious, the lighting is wonderful, the site is beautiful, and while the sleeping rooms were different, they were very comfortable.

Spring retreat registration details
-- Branson retreats are the weekends of March 12-14 and March 19-21. Prices are $225 for four in a room, $235 for three in a room, $245 for two in a room, and $285 for a single room.
-- Lake of the Ozarks Windemere retreat is the weekend of March 26-28. Prices are $245 for four in a room, $255 for three in a room, $265 for two in a room, and $315 for a single room. (Although we do not recommend or encourage it, the rooms will sleep five or six by using the top bunks. If your group is interested, ask about a reduced rate.) If you are by yourself and would like to be matched up with one or more roommates, we will try to help with that request, although we cannot guarantee it.
-- We are currently accepting $50 non-refundable deposits from those who attended one of Scrapbook Generation's fall retreats. Registration for all three retreats will open to the general public on December 1. And a reminder...the reason we added a third retreat is because the two fall retreats sold out so quickly and we had long waiting lists for both!

Christmas papers started arriving at Scrapbook Generation as early as September, and we've gone through so many collections by now that I've lost count! Since we have many, many weeks to go before this special holiday, we have several more Christmas collections in the works for you!

-- Creative Imaginations (four collections, including one for Christmas baking)

New Christmas collections on the way...
-- Bella Blvd., SEI (two groups), and Fancy Pants

Collections we've re-ordered, arriving soon...
-- Graphic 45 and BoBunny (two groups).

Rescheduled class...
Allison's "Tim Holtz Techniques #3" class which was originally set for Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6 pm, has been rescheduled for Monday, Nov. 30 at 6 pm. As soon as possible, we'll be contacting by phone those of you who were signed up. Also, if you want to register for this class, there is still time.

December-January newsletters...
They have arrived, and we'll try to have them in the mail by the end of the week. As I've said before, there are a couple of big announcements that we're holding back on until the newsletters have had a chance to get to you. Give us a few more days, and then we'll reveal it all!

Anna Griffin class...
We have one Christmas class left from our previous Anna Griffin series, and it will be offered Monday, Nov. 30 at 2 pm. The layout is gorgeous and features silver and gold ornaments, with glitter accents. Since this is one of the first events on the new calendar, I thought I should mention it now. I'll post a photo as soon as I can. The fee is $15.

Allison's Creative Kitchen...
Because of Drew's illness, priorities were shuffled around last week, and as a result, we won't have an "Allison's Creative Kitchen" layout, recipe card, and products available this month. This popular feature at Scrapbook Generation will return in December.

Designers Challenge Club...
We hold our second meeting this Thursday evening, and I can't wait to see what the other 24 members have done with their $15 packet of supplies! Our group has grown by several people this month, and to keep the club a workable size, the limit is 30, which means we only have five spots left! To sign up and get started this Thursday night, just call or stop by! Later, we'll have photos to share here and on Facebook of the October projects.

This is the layout we'll be making in the Basic Sketch sessions on Saturday. It's one of my favorites lately...love the oversized tree and the gorgeous paper by Dream Street Papers. There is still room in some of the sessions if you want to join us. Your cost to duplicate this page? Around $4!
The latest arrival at Scrapbook Generation...glittery, colorful "chips" by Pebbles. Each of the 12 color sets has a huge amount of flowers, brackets, tags, swirls, and more. Some of the chipboard pieces are solid colors, and others have been accented with glitter. Extremely cute!
Just got back from the Lake of the Ozarks area, and Scrapbook Generation has great news! We have 2010 covered! We found the perfect spot for a spring retreat, a fall retreat, and two all-day mega-crop events similar to Scrap-a-Palooza! (These events will be in addition to the two spring retreats and two fall retreats in Branson, and the three Scrap-a-Paloozas at Remington's here in Springfield.)

We have the dates all set, and just as soon as the contracts are sent and filled out, I'll announce the dates and all the details! This whole venture is in response to the numerous requests for us to host retreats and other activities in a location closer to the mid-Missouri area. It seems like a good idea to us too!

And don't get confused. This isn't the big news I alluded to a few posts ago. There is still more exciting SG news to come. The December-January newsletters will be mailed out late next week, and the suspense will be over! I can tell you that Stacey and Allison are responsible for this next surprise.

In all the excitement this week, I forgot to do the random winner of the November blog contest! Come on down, Penny Peck! You are the November winner of a $50 prize package from Scrapbook Generation. Thanks to everyone for your entries. I enjoyed reading what scrapbooking means to you.

Designers Challenge Club members...are you ready for our meeting a week from tonight? I can't wait to see what everyone has created! Today, I'm putting the finishing touches on your next packets.

Friday, Stacey and I are making a road trip to the Lake of the Ozarks area in hopes of finalizing a location for a third spring retreat in addition to our two spring retreats in Branson. We'll let you know all the details as soon as we can.

Drew and company are home from the hospital, and I just wanted to thank everyone here and on Facebook and in the store for their concern over his illness. It was a combination of asthma and pneunomia-related problems, and it's under control. As with most situations of this type, I think the sick children snap back a lot quicker than the frightened adults!

Drew is in the hospital right now, and the experience has included a trip in an ambulance. He has pneumonia and/or the flu, so I think it would be best if we postponed Allison's class Thursday night. The Tim Holtz Techniques class will be rescheduled as soon as possible, probably sometime next week. Sorry for any inconveniences!

I wanted to show you the papers we'll be using for the free Basic Sketch Sessions this Saturday. The patterned papers are from an autumn-themed collection by Dream Street Papers. If you've never attended one of our sketch sessions, we'd love to have you join us. The cost of your materials is usually less than $4 for the double-page layout, and you get a free computer sketch of the layout I design using these papers. Always available, if you don't like my paper choice, you can choose other Scrapbook Generation papers to use in making your page.

These sketch sessions are very similar to the Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions, minus the frenzy of making three layouts!

To register, just call or stop by. There are four times to choose from: 10, 11:30, 1, and 2:30.
Thanks to Nikki Sivils of "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker" we gave out great door prizes all day long at Scrapbook Generation's fifth birthday celebration this past Saturday. Nikki donated lots of chipboard mini-albums and the matching 6x6 paper paddies. The remaining door prize winners were drawn this morning, and the winners are Stefanie Hayes, Debbie Chaffin, Priscilla Wadlow, and Jenny Curtis.

I'm working on the December-January newsletter right now, and you'll find several pieces of exciting SG news in it, including a special activity involving "Nikki Sivils, Scrapbooker!" I can't wait for you to find out! And it involves chocolate!

Also, don't forget that our November blog contest ends tonight at midnight. Go to the November 1 post and leave a comment for the random chance to win a prize package valued at $50.

Thanks so much to all of you who celebrated Scrapbook Generation's fifth birthday with us Saturday...it was a special day for us! We had 98 people participating in our Super-Saver Scrapbooking sessions, and many, many more who stopped by to shop and say "happy birthday." The second five years start Monday morning!

The top photo shows the bracelets that I gave to Karin, Stacey, Allison, and myself as a keepsake of Scrapbook Generation's first five years. Jennifer Mattix, one of our first customers when we opened and also one of our first group of Design Team members, has a new business, and she made the two-strand personalized bracelets for us. She used letter beads, the store colors, and also a number charm to make the bracelets, which are beautiful! The next time you're on Facebook, check out "It's Beaded Bliss." The bracelets are even prettier than I had imagined they would be!

Here's a sneak peek at the four autumn-themed page kits we'll be giving away Saturday at our fifth birthday celebration. If you spend $25 or more, you'll get your choice of the four kits, each valued at $12.99!
